Who am I? Why does this website exist?
My name is Tristan, I’m from Germany and currently living in Mexico. I was born and raised in Hessen, the heart of Germany.
When I entered the working adult life in 2011 for the public employment agency of Germany, my initial excitement over my eight years of working for them quickly turned into a boring and unexciting life which in it’s final year resulted in an unhonorable leave in 2019 after cheating with the entry timestamp to my workplace. Which obviously got caught on after a while.
At first I was shocked, realizing the possible unfavorable outcome of this behaviour for the rest of my life. #justgermanthoughts
Quickly though after a few days of sitting at home and contemplating my new situation, I realized what a blessing this actually turned out to be.
I was already heavily invested in Option Trading and had a small income from it. Why not start my long-lived dream of travelling the world non-stop now?
After taking a two month vacation from the only life I knew for eight years in the public agency I started working as a delivery driver to cover for living cost. My planning for the World Journey started in that time.
It wasn’t until 2021 when I first experienced travelling as a volunteer what my perfect way of travelling would look like in the future. I didn’t wanna be that typical tourist that gets pushed around in a group going from location to location or booking an all-inclusive trip from the airport to the place of interest and straight back to the airport just to return back to an empty life in office.
In 2021 I went to Sweden and volunteered at a Swedish Host that renovated his house into a comfortable AirBnb with another german girl and two argentinians.
That was my introduction to travelling as a volunteer. The girl travelled via Bicycle and the argentinians already lived at his place since a while trying to get a work permit for Germany.
This experience opened a new way of travelling to me and I wish to share with you stories and ideas of how to get started in this relatively unkonown way of travelling that’s way more interesting, culturally enriching and gurantees making deep, longlasting friendships over time with other volunteers from all over the world.
Please join me in my adventures and if you’re interested, get encouraged to try the same kind of travelling.
